Us

"Us" is Dan and Davina White... We live in Horsham, West Sussex, southern England (yes, near London, for all you Yanks who know nothing about England except for Buckingham Palace - Keith "GeoDad" Sherwood excepted of course - he knows more geography than God himself probably!). We live in a nice (well, relatively) big (again, relatively) one bedroomed flat in a bit of a dodgy (yet again, this is relative) estate in the aforementioned Horsham. We bought the flat just before getting married on the 21st of October 2000 (yep, a millennium couple!). It's a leasehold flat, which means that people look after our roof, but also make all kinds of stupid demands on us like re-asphalting our balcony (which, incidentally, does not need re-asphalting, just in case anyone from Tower Homes/London and Quadrant looks here!). If you're looking for advice on buying a flat, and you just happened to stumble over our site, then take it from us, go for freehold - much better!

We grew up very differently, but we kind of slot together, in a tessalating kind of way, and make up for gaps in each other. For instance, I was born in England (a fact which remains the bane of my life), and moved to Burundi, central Africa when I was just a few weeks old (can I take this opportunity to inform you all that I was CONCEIVED in Africa - I found this out by very subtle questioning of my mother: "Mum, where were you 9 months before I was born?")... Where was I? Oh yes, born in England... Well, Dav was born in Africa and moved to England 18 months after she was born, completing that gap in my life - which I'm forever grateful for. So she lived in Africa and we shall try to get up some of the photos of her toddling around in nothing but nappies in Nigeria!

We met in church (KFC, Horsham - brilliant church, http://www.kingdomfaith.com), one fine September day - Oh, blessed day! - and it was love at first sight... We married in October 2000 and honeymooned in the Maldives.

I (Dan) currently work at DMM (http://www.dmm.uk.com) where I hold the impressive title: "Senior Web Developer"... It means I make the teas and coffee for the tea-girl. So careerwise, I'm doing just fine! As for Dav, she's busily turning the whole of the UK's social services upside down by insisting that a paperless office is in fact a feasible option. "Get online or get out!" is her motto as she storms around, burning filofaxes and installing Outlook... She's also doing just fine!

That's a quick overview - check out the rest of the site for more info!

These little hermit crabs used to scuttle across the sand and hide in their shell when you came near them.
This is Dan on the South Downs when he was a kid - still is!

A wrasse - very colourful
This is our house in Burundi, which we still own... sorry it's not a sunny day
We saw several of these smaller white mottled moray eels in the Maldives

Thought of the day:

Old programmers never die; they just lose some of their functions.
